Adult Social Tennis Tournaments!

On the 17th June & 15th July (both Tuesdays - in place of the normal Club Sessions)  - how about some Pimms & Prizes?

Alan’s unique handicapping system allows you to turn up at ANY time between 6pm & 8pm . These HUGELY successful events are great fun and for ALL abilities!

PARKING: Please be aware that the club is still asking members not to park in Southampton Street (PARTICULARLY NOT AT WEEKENDS) as this does upset the residents at times. The Car Park at the Business Centre is a short walk away.

Welcome to Spring - and to Folly Sports Park!

We moved to Southampton St in 1926.  This is now our 89th year, and we’ll shortly be moving to Folly Sports Park. We’re all looking forward to clubnights under floodlights ( see HERE... )  a warm clubhouse, four full size courts, a dedicated Red Zone, being part of Folly Sports Park...

We’re also looking forward to another year in fulfilling our main objectives: that of providing social and competitive tennis for all ages and abilities; in a Club atmosphere that’s relaxed and friendly - and for as many people as possible! 

As always - our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helps to make this happen: the Officers of the club; the main Committee; the relocation, social, junior & maintenance committees; our clubmark contact, child protection officer, Wimbledon Ticket organiser, Club consumables coordinator, match secretaries and captains – and of course our head gardener Andy Sawyer.

After the wettest January on record, there have inevitably been delays with the building of the new tennis courts. Much of the digging out is completed, and actual court building will start shortly. Once started, it will take approximately five weeks to complete, including the new red zone. The new Clubhouse is near completion, and is now undergoing painting/decorating and having the new kitchen fitted. Solar panels go up next week.  The inspection for our Energy Performance Certificate gave us the highest rating possible for this type of conversion.

At the new site,  we will be an integral part of  Folly Sports Park, and the Cricket & Rugby Clubs have both been very welcoming. They have also kindly invited all Tennis club members to their social gatherings over the coming months, which are included in the dates below.

RENEWING YOUR SUBSCRIPTION FOR 2014-2015

 See HERE for more details.  The new season officially starts on Tuesday 25th March, and you will shortly be emailed the  renewal form for all the individuals living at your address. There are MASSIVE discounts if you renew before 1st May, and there’s even BIGGER discounts if you take out FAMILY membership!

There’s also two categories of membership for those who want to support their children or enjoy the social side - but aren’t necessarily players themselves. 

ONCOURT PARENT allows the parent accompanying their child or children to play with them. And NON-PLAYING SOCIAL MEMBER speaks for itself!

We DO hope that all existing and prospective members (all ages welcome!) will come along to the NEW Club at Folly Sports Park: for burgers, bangers & banter. Also - a good opportunity for a guided tour of our spanking new facilities!

WIMBLEDON TICKETS 2014: We expect to receive our allocation shortly. As happened last year, the selection form will be emailed so that members can tick their preferences for dates.  Members DO need to have a BTM (British Tennis Membership) number to qualify and WILL need to attend the Draw (6th May) , or send a representative in order to be eligible for tickets.  WATCH THIS SPACE FOR FURTHER DETAILS!

ADULT SOCIAL TENNIS
Every Sunday throughout the year 10.30-12.30 . Simply turn up - balls provided. Evening tennis (Tuesdays & Thursdays) starts again March 25th 2014. See HERE for more details.

Adult Summer LEAGUE Tennis (playing other Clubs)

We have 5 teams in the OLTA Wilson  League 2014 ( CLICK HERE FOR FIXTURE DATES ) . Matches are on Saturday or Sunday afternoons, starting at 1.30pm. Each team usually has about 7 matches spread from Easter to Michaelmas, and the format is 2 couples per team. This means that you are usually home by 6pm at the latest. ( This year we won’t have our Men’s Monday Evening Team that usually plays in the Wiltshire League) . Alan’s Saturday sessions are pay and play sessions which run all year, including school holidays.

• Susanna and Matt’s sessions run during term time only and details of course dates and costs will be forwarded each term. 
• In general all group coaching sessions work out approximately £5 per person per hour.
• All children who wish to attend coaching need to become members of the club (£20 for the year) and fill out an Emergency Contact Form
• Any adults who attend only the coaching sessions and are not club members need to pay £20 for the year to cover insurance.   

TENNIS BALLS: Are provided during official Club sessions. Tubes of high quality branded balls can be purchased at the Club house from Andy Sawyer, Alan Elbourn, or Susanna Hunt.
